KOL is both cold and warm. The music of Kristian Olstad makes you lose track of place and time.
Kristian Olstad is an independent artist based in Tromsø, playing independent jazz in original compositions.
Originally from Jessheim outside Oslo, the now Tromsø-based guitarist Kristian Olstad has developed his own type of jazz, His music has clear similarities to the aesthetics of the European comtemporary jazz, represented by Sidsel Endresen, Nils Petter Molvær, Arve Henriksen and Supersilent, among others. The music ranges from improvised noise to mor traditional constellations and compositions.
Kristian is an unusual musician, where the road and not the target is the main focus. At the same time as he is interested in how it sounds, he is also not interested. The red thread in the album is that one can hear all the time that the musicians are working to get together. It is very little auto pilot. Kristian is hunting the process, he is hunting the focused group play that is so concentrated that one loses both time and place.
